  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup evaporated milk
  • 8 tbsp unsalted butter (divided)
  • 1/4 cup boiling water
  • 1 1/2 cups toasted and coarsely chopped pecans
  • 1 cup granulated sugar

Instructions

  1. Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil and spray lightly with nonstick cooking spray or use a silicone mat.
  2. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine white sugar, brown sugar, and evaporated milk. Stir until dissolved.
  3. Insert a candy thermometer and cook until it reaches 240°F.
  4. Remove from heat, add cubes of butter without stirring, and let sit for one minute. Then mix in vanilla extract and pecans.
  5. Stir until the mixture thickens and lightens in color.
  6. Quickly drop spoonfuls onto the prepared baking sheet before it sets.
  7. Allow pralines to cool at room temperature for about 30 minutes until hardened.
